Mr. Gillespie was born in Payson and homesteaded in Vernon. He was Bishop of the Vernon ward for 12 years and was Stake Missionary for the Mormon church for 2 years.
A retired carpenter, he was in charge of construction work of the sawmill at McNary.
Mr. Gillespie died Tuesday in the McNary Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Loreteta; six sons, Charles, Leone, and Milton, all of Vernon; Guy, Mesa; William, Show Low; and Meryl, St. Johns; three daughters, Mrs. Beryl Brade, Vernon; Mrs. Georgia Austin, Eagar; and Mrs. Maxine Frost, Lakeside; a brother, Fae, Safford; a sister, Mrs. Temperance Penrod, Lakeside; 45 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
