U.S. Congressman. Born in Henderson, Kentucky, he graduated from Centre College, in 1912, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1913 and commenced to practice law in Henderson, Kentucky. During World War I, he served as a Private in Headquarters Company, 159th Depot Brigade, US Army. After the war, he was an executive Democratic committeeman, (1920-24) and City attorney of Henderson, (1926-30). In 1930, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of David H. Kincheloe, serving until 1931. Not a candidate for election, he was again City attorney of Henderson, (1936-37) and continued the practice of law until his death at age 68 in Henderson, Kentucky.
