Elizabeth was a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Bell. She married Thomas Roy Graham in Eureka, California on February 1, 1893. He died just a few years later. She married, second, Arthur Smith on February 15, 1902. (He was prevously married to her sister, Nellie, who died two years earlier.)

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Bell Smith, a resident of Eureka for 39 years, who died Friday morning, were held Sunday afternoon from the Sanders funeral parlors. The Rev. Chas. E. Farrar of Christ church officiated at religious services. Interment was made at Myrtle Grove cemetery.
