Missing in Action from USS Houston (CA-30) along with his brother Rudell Houston Anglin.

The Houston went down in action on 1 March 1942 against a Japanese Invasion Task Force on the south coast of Java during the Battle of Sunda Strait. Of the original crew of 1,061, 368 crew members made it to shore and were captured by the Japanese, 291 would survive to the end of the war.

(15 December 1945 is the date the Navy declared him dead, no body recovered.)
