2nd Lt. Veto Barziloski USMCR Co.A, 26th Reg., 5th Div. was wounded in action 23 February 1945 on Volcano Island, Iwo Jima and later died aboard a hospital ship. He was buried at sea. Vic received the purple heart and is listed on the Tablets of The Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. He graduated from the University of Idaho at Moscow where he was a noted collegiate boxer. He married Mary Belle Gano at the farmhouse of Ward and Mabel Gano in Moscow, Idaho. There is a stone memorial bench under a tree in the Gano family plots at the Moscow Cemetery.
