Asa was a Sergeant in Captain Nathaniel Healy's company of Minute-men, serving under Col. Ebenezer Larned's regiment, which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775. Source: Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the Revolutionary War, Volume 4, Page 252. Cap. Healy's Keekamoochaug Brook Farm exists today in Dudley, Mass.
