Doris and Gilbert's children are: Hubert, Randy, Beverly, Janice (now deceased), and Gilbert.

Our beloved Doris, daughter of Hubert and Nora White Brickey.
She and her lifelong companion/husband, Gilbert "Gib" met at Steins, New Mexico where they were both visiting with family members who were living there. (Railroad workers) At the time, Gilbert was in the Air Force. It was love at first sight for them both.
Aunt Doris was a beautiful and talented lady. She was a wonderful mother and wife. Always laughing and joking around, full of life and love. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a wonderful musician, played a guitar and steel guitar, and was a great painter as well. She painted some lovely landscapes of places she knew. She painted the Shell Service Station where she grew up, and some of the beautiful Superstition Mountains. She also painted beautiful ones of eagles and desert scenes as well as a beautiful one of the San Xavier Mission in Tucson. She loved to paint on anything that came to hand: rocks, cardboard, metal and wood, as well as sea shells. She and Gilbert loved to go to the ocean. She was also a talented poetess and singer, writing poems and gospel tunes. Her Lord and Savior was a very big part of her life. We spent many happy times with Doris and Gilbert, and several were Hunting trips. She was a wonderful camp-fire companion, a wonderful cook as well. She delighted in cooking with her solar oven on those occasions.
For many years she and Gilbert Lived in the beautiful White Mountains, until they moved to Apache Junction, where they remained until her death. They lived a short time at Hewett Station, where Doris cashiered at a grocery store. Hewett Station was located near Superior.

Doris wanted children, and she and Gilbert were having trouble conceiving, for about 5 years or so. She went so far as to "adopt" a foreign child at one time. My mother told me these stories.

Delores Fern (Brickey) Garvin was also known as Doris. When I went to the Montague, Tx. courthouse to research the family, I found a listing for "female Brickey" with Dors' birthdate. I was told later, that when Doris applied for disability, or social security (or just her birth certificate) she discovered that her name had never been entered in the courthouse record. She was told that she could choose her own name for the certificate. She chose to use the name her parents gave her, but everone always called her "Doris".
SHE DIED AT APACHE JUNCTION AT HOME.
Doris had cancer and is buried at National Memorial Cemetery along with her husband Gilbert. Her last words to my mother (her sister) and I when we visited her in the hospital was "I'm going Home..."
Gilbert "Gib" Garvin died of a massive heart attack and was buried Nov. 7, 2003. He was 74.

As of today (2011) as far as I know, all of Gilbert and Doris' children are living except for Janice (died 2015) and her baby son, Joshua Rush (died 1981) .

We have lost contact with them all, the last time we saw any of them was at Gilbert's funeral. That is so sad, because as all of us grew up, we were such a CLOSE knit family.....now that is just a memory....
