Rev. Joseph Strong of Coventry, graduated at Yale in 1749 and was ordained in 1752. His salary was fifty pounds, fire wood and the use of a house. He was dismissed in 1779 and was installed at Williamsburgh, Mass. December 26, 1781, and continued there until he died, Jan'y 1, 1803, aged 74 years. He was a man of sound judgement, well versed in the sacred scriptures, and had much self control. His wife was Jane Gilston of Southampton, L.I. She died September 21, 1811 aged 82 years old.
