Elizabeth "Lizzie" Gresham was the elder of two children born to William Wadley Gresham, and his wife, Eudocia Almeda Speakes. Will Gresham was a merchant and owner/founder of the W.W. Gresham Mercantile Co. and the Gresham Opera House in downtown Arkadelphia, as well as a store in Benoit, Mississippi.
Both Lizzie and her sister, Beulah, were born in the family home on Caddo Street. The girls were educated in Arkadelphia, including at Ouachita Baptist College, where both majored in music.
Lizzie was married in 1903 to William Claude Bradford (born 1885; died 1926; buried in Lonoke, Arkansas). Their children were Martha Speakes and twins Kathryn Biscoe and William Taylor.
