DAVENPORT - Donald Eugene Gulley, 75, of Davenport, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 12, 2009, in Davenport. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 1 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family.

Donald was born November 17, 1933, in Benton, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Josephine (Aaron) Gulley. He was united in marriage to Sally Harker on August 28, 1954, in East Moline. She died December 20, 2008. He worked as an assembler for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 30 years prior to his retirement. In his earlier years, Don was lead vocalist and guitar player in the county/western band, The Westernaires. He also enjoyed working on cars in his spare time.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Darci (Michael) Gulley-Armetta, Susan (Richard) Winters and Gregory (Lisa) Gulley, all of Davenport; grandchildren, David, Layne, Isaac, Veronica, and Darrick; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Greta, Edward and Jazmynn; siblings, Mabel (Robert) Harvey, Moline, Robert (Donna) Gulley, Milan, Ill., Art (Yvonne) Gulley, of Florida, Lawrence (Mary) Gulley, Rock Island, and Bill Gulley, Lynn Center, Ill.; special friend, Bev Lantz, Davenport; his beloved cat, Bridget; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and a brother, Charles, preceded him in death.
