While waiting transport home, Tech Sergeant Joel Beauford Busby, U.S. Army Air Forces, volunteered for an emergency mission. He was a radio operator/tail gunner as a member of The Flying Fortress, 353rd Bomber Squadron, 301st Bomber Group, Heavy Artillery.

He never came home, nor were any remains ever found. The entire crew was lost.

Recipient of the Air Medal with mulitple oak leaf clusters.

Truly an American Hero and part of the Greatest Generation.

(There are two memorials listed; One placed in the family plot so his family would have a place to "mourn & visit" him, the other by The Commonwealth War Graves Commision and the American Battle Monument Commission in Tunisia, North Africa.)
