It is with great sadness that the family of Ryan Rice announces his passing to his heavenly home.

Ryan passed away April 16, 2011 in Grand Rapids at the age of 31.

He was born December 2, 1979 in Battle Creek to Bob and Debbie (Robbins) Rice.

Ryan attended Harper Creek Schools all his life, graduating from Harper Creek High School in 1998. He played on the soccer team for four years. Ryan attended Kellogg Community College. During his life Ryan worked at Windsong Stable, Bill Knapp's, Gary Field's Comedy Club, Schuler's, GHS and Hanson's Windows.

He enjoyed drawing, biking, hunting, riding horses, listening to music and the family fishing trip to Canada with the guys was the highlight of his summer. He ran beside his grandmother and mother in The Race for The Cure, supporting his mother through her battle with breast cancer.

Ryan is survived by his fiancé, Brittney Bale; his parents, Bob and Debbie Rice of Ceresco; brothers, Kyle Rice and Mason Rice, both of Ceresco; grandparents, Bob and Phyllis Rice of Ceresco; Aunt Gail (Uncle Aaron) Rice of Battle Creek; several beloved cousins and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandmother, Artema Robbins and his uncle, Jeff Rice.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Shaw Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Newton United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Powers officiating. Interment, Newton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may go to Salvation Army or Humane Society of South Central Michigan (2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015).
