Gordon attended Peter Pan School and Training School #3 he worked at Capital projects for 45 years where he was one of the first employees. Gordon was an athletic for Special Olympics and was inducted into the issouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield Mo. in 2005. He enjoyed playing softball, basketball, bowling, bocci ball, track and field and golf. He was a longtime active member of Jefferson City Parks and Recreation, Friday night Recs. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 213 where he was proud to become an Eagle Scout. Gordon was a active member of First Baptist Church where he was a Door Greeter and a member of the Exceptional Peoples Class. He loved to listen to the scanner to keep track of the local police and fire calls. On the CB Radio, he was known as "Oklahoma Kid"
In addition to his parents, Gordon is survived by his three brothers, Steve Barnes, and wife Alice of Jefferson City, ichael Barnes and wife Sheri of Jefferson City, Kevin Barnes and wife Edith of Jefferson City, one sister, Sharon Schaefer and husband Larry of Westphalia Mo. and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received from 5-8p.m. Wednesday April 20, 2011 at the Houser Millard Funeral hoe. Funeral services will be held at 11;00 a.m.Thursday April 21, 2011 at the funeral home with Dr Doyle Sager officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn eorial Gardens.
