The daughter of the Rev. Duncan G. L. and Janie (Norment) McKenzie Thach, she was the wife of Jeff Davis, who served as governor of Arkansas from 1901 to 1907, and as U.S. Senator from 1907 to 1913.

The Springdale News
April 13, 1909
Mrs. W.J. Peterson received a telegram Saturday morning from Little Rock announcing the death of her aunt, Mrs. Ina Davis, wife of Senator Jeff Davis, which occurred at 5:30 that morning, the result of organic heart trouble. Mrs. Peterson left on the noon train for Russellville, presuming that the remains would be interred at that place, but on reaching Van Buren she learned that the interment would be in Little Rock and she returned on the cannon ball*. The deceased was born in Little Rock October 6, 1862 and was the daughter of D.G.L. McKenzie, a Methodist minister. She was united in marriage to Jeff Davis at Russellville October 22, 1882 and to them were born twelve children eight of whom survive their mother. Mrs. Davis is spoken of by all who knew her as a noble Christian woman.

(She sounded like a remarkable woman!)

*the cannon ball, as I understand it, was the train, and main form of transportation in Arkansas in the early 1900's.
