Anna Lenora Newkirk, age 86, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:12 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon. She was born on November 23, 1924, in Miller, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence and Letha (Syner) Amos. Anna was a graduate of Miller High School and operated the License Bureau for over 20 years, and was a member of the Summit Baptist Church. On November 4, 1942, she married Kenneth Loyd Newkirk in Miller. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Those surviving her include: three sons and their families, David (Maria) Newkirk of Olympia, Washington; Michael (Ellen) Newkirk of Licking, Missouri, Rick (Christina) Newkirk of Mt. Vernon; eleven grandchildren, Barbara McMullen, Maryent (Walter) Martin, Kenneth Lee (Rene) Newkirk, David Newkirk, Shanda Newkirk, Kaylyn (Chris) Newkirk Lambert, Novalee Newkirk, Elizabeth Newkirk, Jessica (Cody) Pendergrass, Shelly Newkirk, Ryan Newkirk; and nine great grandchildren.
Her parents and one daughter, Beverly Newkirk, also preceded her in death.
Burial at the White Chapel Cemetery in Springfield.
