Janet Ruth (McGonnigal) Boone, age 80, of Stow, formerly of Weymouth and Winchester, passed peacefully on April 17, 2011 at home with her family. Survived by her children Judith Boone of Fitchburg, Jason Boone of Brooklyn, NY; her grandchildren, Rachael, Ryan, Matthew, Joshua, and Owen, and one great-grandchild. Sister of Peggy Hassan, Helen Schrier, Alan McGonnigal, Susan McGonnigal and the late Thomas McGonnigal. Also survived by her former husband, James J. Boone Jr., as well as many nieces and nephews. Janet was a Marine Architect for General Dynamics in Quincy and various contractors following. She retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Boston Detachment. Janet was an active member of the Fellowship for Social Justice at Arlington Street Church, Boston in the early 1960s. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the First Parish Unitarian Church, 330 First Parish Rd., Scituate, MA. 02066. Interment Groveland Cemetery, Scituate, MA.
