Tommy Wayne Murphy, 57, of Florence, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011, after a courageous battle with
cancer.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Greenview Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pisgah Cemetery.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bill and Ruth Murphy; brothers, James Murphy and Larry Murphy; and sister, Rebecca Jefferies.
Survivors are sons, Jeremy Murphy (Natasha) and Richard Murphy; granddaughters, Gracie Murphy and Belle Murphy; sisters, Era L. Butler and Betty Pitt (Clinton); brothers, Joe Murphy Sr. and Gene Murphy; mother of his children and caregiver, Katherine Murphy; best friend, Jeanette Demers; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kent Murphy, Kendall Murphy, Joe Murphy Jr., Greg May, David Wallace and Junior Gilchrist. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, Jeff Wilson and Billy Rhodes.
The family would like to thank the Vanderbilt Cancer Institute, Tennessee Valley Hospice and El Reposo Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion during Tommy's illness.
