According to this couple's oldest grandchild (my mother, Reba Durden--daughter of Glenn E Durden, Polly's oldest living child to reach adulthood) Polly's name was originally: Mary Ann Jennet Hendrix...but she changed the name to MARY Antoinette Hendrix. The last name is sometimes spelled with an "-icks" in some Georgia records. "Polly" was born in Metter GA, in 1866 after the Civil War,and died in DeQueen, Arkansas. I am Reba's oldest living child--a great-granddaughter of "Polly" and "El" Durden...and knew them personally from, infancy. I understand that in a family Bible she entered the name: Mary A/. Polly Durden...and she is caried on at least two documents as "Polly" and as "Mary"...
