Young Lady Dies Reciting Scripture in a Play

While participating in a missionary society entertainment at the Eckington Presbyterian Church, North Capital Street and Quincy Place, Washington City, on Wednesday night, Miss Ruth Ellen Darby, 16 years old, died of heart disease. The audience thought that it was part of the play, or that she had fainted, but she never recovered consciousness. She was reciting a verse of scripture in connection with a sketch of African missionary work.

Miss Darby was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Darby, of Barnesville, this county. She was in her second year at Central High School, having been graduated from the Eckington School two years ago.

Rockville, Md., May 16 -- The funeral of Miss Ruth Ellen Darby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Darby, of Barnesville, this county, who dropped dead Wednesday evening while reciting at a church entertainment in Washington, will take place at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning from the family residence, burial to be in Monocacy Cemetery, at Beallsville, Md.
