U.S. Congressman. Graduating from the law department of Columbia College New York City, he was admitted to the bar in 1876 and commenced to practice law in Appleton, Wisconsin. Moving to Rockledge, Florida, in 1882, he practiced law until returning to Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1887 and was elected District Attorney of Outagamie County. In 1893, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third Congress, serving until 1895. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his sudden death at age 48.
