Educated at St John's Leatherhead and New College, Oxford. Brother of Rev. Hugh Frazer, chamberlain of York Minster, chaplain of Castle Howard. Husband of Joan Neale Scott Williams who died in July 2007 at Castle Douglas in Scotland. Father of two sons, Peter and Ian. After steady years of slow conversion which produced poems such as his Head in the River, Shamus finally joined the Catholic Church shortly before his untimely death from cancer, a victim of his chain-smoking when writing and correcting.
