The following is from the obituary of Fred Grant Armstrong: Fred was the son of Harvey and Martha Armstrong. He was married June 30, 1900, to Mathilda Engberg of Louriston Twp. To this marriage three children were born: Mrs. Myrtle Velde of Granite Falls, Lester and Russell of Murdock. Also surviving are his wife; one brother, Frank of Hinkley; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Gunderson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Della Engberg and Mrs. Lillie Gunderson of Blackduck; 9 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A brother and sister preceded him in death.
Fred lived on the farm of his birth in Louriston Twp. until 1944 when both he and his wife moved to Murdock. For many years he was elder and trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of Kerkhoven.
After a lingering illnes of 1 1/2 years, of which the last months were spent in the Erickson nursing home in Benson, he died February 10 at Swift County Hospital in Benson.
Internment was at Calvary Cemetery in Murdock. Pallbearers were Myron Armstrong, Lowell Armstrong, Harley Armstrong, Walter Armstrong, William Christians, and William Foley, Jr.
