US Congressman. He enlisted in the Union Army in 1862, and served as a Private in the 20th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Upon his discharge from that unit, he re-enlisted, and was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in Company A, 86th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was eventually promoted to Captain of Company K before his muster out of the Army. He was elected to represent Ohio's 14th and 16th Congressional Districts in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1889 to 1893.
