Ocala – George Berton Caldwell, 81, went to be with his Savior April 16, 2011 in Ocala. George was born August 10, 1929 to Ralph Merrill Caldwell and Janie Gladys (Moore) Caldwell in Hominey, OK. Mr. Caldwell graduated from Pawnee High School in 1947 in Oklahoma. George married Lula Gregor, his high school sweetheart, May 2, 1948 at Blue Hawk Peak. George furthered his education with a business major degree from Southern Illinois University. George was a Mason and Shriner in St. Louis, MO. He was a plant superintendent for Continental Can Company for 33 years. After retirement he moved to Ft. Lauderdale. Then 1991 moved to Ocala. He was a member of the College Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lula M. Caldwell; daughters, Janie and husband Ed Heintz of Granite City, IL, Janis and husband James Bevier of Prescott, AZ, and Joyce and husband James Rolfe of Denver, CO; sons, George B. Caldwell, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Gilbert and wife Diane Caldwell of Roanoke, TX; 7 grandchildren, Katherine, Christine, Kelli, Ian, Andre, Jeff, and Jason; 5 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Haley, Robert, Jackson, and Hunter; brother Taylor and his wife Vickie Caldwell; sister-in-law, Lois Caldwell; a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held May 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at College Road Baptist Church with Rev. John Downing officiating.
