Mr. John W. Klaess, 47, Ijamsville, died Tuesday, June 19, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Washington, D.C. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Frances Klaess.
Mr. Klaess was born in New York state Sept. 12,1931, a son of Mrs. Alyce Donahoo Klaess, Tustin, Calif., and the late [Joseph W.] Klaess.
Mr. Klaess was a field inspector with Bechtel Association. He had served 11 years in the U.S. Army and Air Force and was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America. He was a member of the Montgomery County Gem and Lapidary Mineralogical Society. He also was a teacher in the D.C. public schools for three years.
Surviving, besides his wife and mother, are two daughters, Eva Klaess and Kathleen Klaess, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Wallace Grover and Mrs. Margaret Quinones, both of Tustin, Calif., and Mrs. Claude Galasso, Kirkland, Wash.; two brothers, Jeffrey Klaess, Silver Spring, and Mark Klaess, Garden Grove, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at the Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, Damascus. The Rev. Roy F. Kephart, St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Damascus, will officiate. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
