Mrs. Yvonne M. Rodgers, of Irmo, entered into the house of the Lord April 12, 2011.

Mrs. Rodgers was born on September 28, 1934, in Lexington to Roland and Birdie Kleckley Meetze. She was recently preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Clarence Rodgers.

A graduate of Irmo High School, she worked as an administrative assistant at a number of Columbia businesses, retiring from the SC State Forestry Commission.

Mrs. Rodgers was a well known, beloved figure in the history of the Irmo area. Her family owned much of the land that was to become modern day Irmo. Her father was a farmer who together with her mother owned and operated Meetze's Barbeque on Broad River Road, one of the first of the Midlands style barbeque restaurants.

She was a volunteer for many youth organizations and schools in the St. Andrews/Irmo area and was a long time member of the Ballentine Civic Association. Mrs. Rodgers served as a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member and faithful servant in many capacities over the years. She was very active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and held many local, state and district offices including District President.

Mrs. Rodgers is survived by her son, Clarence Terry Rodgers and wife, Luanne Hicks Rodgers of Charleston; her daughter, Kathy Rodgers Eargle and husband, Berney Eargle of Little Mountain; two grandchildren, Brandy Eargle and Megan Eargle Hellard, and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Donald K. Meetze of Lexington and her sister, Marilyn M. Brabham of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by two siblings, R. Franklin Meetze Jr., of Irmo and Joyce M. Lindler of Columbia.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:15 April 18, 2011, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Irmo with Pastor Paul Sizemore officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery following the service.
