DEATH OF CHARLES H. HUTTIG.
The St. Louis Banker Succumbed in His Summer Home in the Adirondacks.
ST. LOUIS, July 12.—Charles H. Huttig, president of the Third National Bank and the American Bankers' Association, died at his summer home, Huttig's Camp, Lake Honnedaga, N. Y. Death came after an illness of more than a year. Mr. Huttig had been retired from active business life for more than two years and had not been at his desk since last January. He is survived by his widow and two children, Minnette [sic], 16 years old, and Charles, 13. No arrangements for his funeral have been made and it is not known whether he will be buried here or in Muscatine, Ia., his former home, and that of his wife. Mr. Huttig was born at Muscatine, Ia., and was the son of Fred and Sophia Huttig. He was educated in the public schools of Muscatine and was married April 13, 1892, to Annie E. Musser. Mt Huttig began his business career as a clerk in the banking house of Cook, Musser & Co., at Muscatine. Later he came to St. Louis and engaged in the manufacture of sash, doors and blinds. Since 1897 he had been president of the Third National Bank, one of the largest financial institutions of St. Louis, and which he was credited with having largely built up by his own efforts.
Charles Huttig was a brother of William Huttig, president of the National Bank of the Republic, and Fred Huttig, president of the Western Sash and Door Company, of Kansas City. Both William and Fred Huttig and their families left early yesterday morning for Monte Ne, Ark., on a vacation. At the home of Fred Huttig last night it was said the message of the brother's death would be forwarded to Monte Ne.
