Soldier Dies After Injuries

Spec. 4 John Garretson, 401 E St., died last night at Madigan Hospital in Tacoma, Wash. of double pneumonia. He suffered the illness after head and internal injuries in a motorcycle accident in Fairbanks a week ago.

Garrettson and his wife, Bonnie, were injured when their two motorcycles collided with a car driven by Robert James Hansen. Mrs. Garrettson was treated for a fractured foot and ankle.

Garrettson was evacuated to Elmendorf Air Force Base hospital in Anchorage last Tuesday and flown to Madigan General Hospital Sunday night. He had been unconscious since the accident.

Garrettson was from Oregon and was serving in the Army at Ft. Wainwright where he was a chaplain's assistant.

John Garretson Funeral Monday

Funeral services for John Garretson, 401 E st. of Ft. Wainwright, will be held in Portland, Ore., on Monday.

Mr. Garretson died Monday from double pneumonia after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident in Fairbanks a week ago. He was a chaplain's assistant at the post.

The services will be held at the Gable Funeral Home, N.E. 80th St., Portland. Bonnie Garretson, his widow, may be reached in care of the Rev. Donald Clone, 520 N. E. 96th Ave., Portland.
