Amasa Sprague, son of murdered Amasa Sprague and brother of Civil War Governor William Sprague IV. He and his brother incorportated the second firm of A. & W. Sprague Manufacturing, cotton manufacturing and calico printers. His home the Sprague Mansion and his mill The Cranston Print Works still exist in Cranston, RI. Amasa also was the President of the National Association of the Promotion and interests of the American Turfmen, the Narragansett Park Association. It was his Narragansett Trotting Park that was the place of the first auto racing in 1896.
Amasa died at his Cowesett(Warwick) home.
