Son of Francis Butler MacAtee and Mary Lorenzo (Glenn) MacAtee. Husband of Margaret M. (Neubauer) MacAtee whom he married 24 June 1924 at Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon, Baltimore Co., MD.

Charles joined the US Army at Fort Meade, MD where he was inducted on 28 May 1918 as a private. He was attached to Co M 313 Infantry, and sailed to France on July 8, 1918. He was overseas from July 8, 1918 to June 2, 1919. He was honorably discharged on June 5, 1919.
