U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the law department of Baldwin-Wallace University Ohio, in 1901, was admitted to the bar and proceeded to practice law in Sandusky, Ohio. He served as Sandusky City Solicitor, (1903-09) and as judge of the common pleas court of Erie County, (1925-31). In 1931, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second, Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until 1937. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 75.
