U.S. Congressman. He completed preparatory studies, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Tiffin, Ohio, in 1825. He was appointed collector of customs for Erie County, Ohio, in 1835 and elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress, serving (1837-39). He later died under mysterious circumstances near Sandusky, Ohio.
