PARK VIEW, Iowa - Melvin E. Dammann, Park View, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, in Park View. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Melvin was born April 19, 1913, in Eldridge, to Emil and Doris (Heldt) Dammann. He attended school in Sheridan Township. He married Dorothy Badtram on Sept. 1, 1938, in Davenport. Melvin farmed west of Eldridge and retired in 1975. He stayed on the farm until he moved to Park View in 1998. Melvin enjoyed going to auctions, traveling, dancing and playing cards. His memberships included Moose Lodge 28, Davenport; German American Pioneer Society; Golden Wedding Club; Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club; North Scott Seniors; and Scott County Historical Society. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Survivors include wife of 63 years, Dorothy; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Lena; sister, Adaline; and brother, Raymond.
