Robert Fred Baxter, 59, of Brownstown, died at 4:51 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at his residence.
Private services and burial at Griffith Cemetery in rural Brownstown will be at a later date. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Baxter was born on Oct. 27, 1948, in Chicago, the son of Robert and Rosalie A. Briskie Baxter.
He was a former waiter and bar manager at The Depot Restaurant in Vandalia. .
He is survived by a brother, Ray Hicks of Duluth, Minn.; and sisters, Nora Jewell of Dawson Springs, Ky., and Catherine Ball of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
