Actor. He appeared in vaudeville, television, films and on radio. In 1898 he joined his friend, Charlie Dale and became the successful comedy team of "Smith and Dale." They created the skits "Hungarian Rhapsody" and "Dr. Kronkheit." In the 1950s they appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on television. In 1971 the 73-year partnership ended when Dale passed away. They were the inspiration for Neil Simon's film "The Sunshine Boys."
