Funeral services were held last Thursday, April 6th, at Trinity Lutheran church in Walthill for Mrs. Augusta Bentz, 82, who passed away Monday evening, April 3, at the Pender hospital. Rev J.G. Werner officiated. Mrs. Dale Fuchser and Mrs. Wilbur Fuchser rendered the vocal selections accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Anita Miller. Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery at Walthill. Pallbearers were Bernie Underwood, Merle Heckathorn Ruben Wenger, Clarence Young, Richard Brummund, and Edward Kunzle. Augusta Schwanke Bents, the daughter of John and Fredrecka Schwanke, was born on October 9, 1878, at Snyder, Nebr. As a child she was baptized, attended parochial school and was confirmed in St. Peter's Lutheran church at Snyder. On July 26, 1898, she was united in marriage to August Bentz at West Point, Nebr., and they were blessed with nearly 63 years of happy wedded life. In 1902 they moved to Oklahoma and lived there until they moved to Pender in 1915, where they have since made their home with the exception of a few years spent in Walthill. In April, 1947, she became a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Walthill, which she served and supported faithfully though she was in poor health for many years.
