Carol Nelle Swindell, longtime Cushing resident and former Cushing school teacher, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 15, 2011 in Oklahoma City at the age of 76 years.
The daughter of the late Ralph Fuller and Flora Adams Fuller, Nelle was born on August 23, 1934 in Abilene, TX where she was also raised, graduating from Abilene High School.
She received her Bachelor's Degree in Religious Education from Hardin- Simmons University and later received her Master in English from Oklahoma State University.
Nelle had worked for the Midland and Hudson refineries for several years and after the refineries closed, she worked for Harrison Elementary and then Cushing High School until her retirement in 2001. Following her retirement, she had worked for Lauderdale Insurance Company.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was very active. Nelle loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed reading American Literature, which she was known to quote on a regular basis.
Survivors include her son, Mac Swindell and his wife Taylora of Piedmont, OK; three grandsons, Ethan, Zachary and Blake Swindell of Piedmont, OK; one sister, Beth Salmon of Longview, TX and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Nelle was preceded in death by one brother, Jerrell Fuller and one sister, Margaret Green.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church with Brother Keith Moore officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts to causes dear to Nelle: the building fund at First Baptist Church, Cushing, or to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.
