SCIPIO - Joyce Black Monroe, age 55, died September 11, 1991 at her residence after a valiant fight with cancer.

Born January 3, 1936 in Fillmore to Willis and Geneva Bennett Black. She married Dix L. Monroe May 28, 1954 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Survived by husband, Scipio; children, Kay Dix and George Warren, both Monroe; Kary Black, Richfield; Robert W., Scipio; and Mrs. Jaime (Elizabeth) Rebaza, Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren; sisters and brother, Mrs. Harold (DeAun) Anderson, St. George; Mrs. Bertis (Beth) Frampton, and Mrs. Earl (Carol) Framton, and Mrs. Mitchell (Edna Gwen) Hodges, all of Fillmore; and Ben Black, Beaver. Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Eugene.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 1991, 12 in the Scipio Ward Chapel. Friends may call Friday, 7-9 p.m. at the Olpin Mortuary in Fillmore, and Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the ward chapel. Burial, Scipio Cemetery.
