Otto enlisted with the Beaumont Rifles, was in the Third Texas Volunteers during the Spanish American War. Otto was on the transport San Marcos on her memorable trip from Key West, FL to Montauk Point, N.Y. He died in Victoria, Texas with complications from measles.
