Arlo Carl Krumwiede, the son of George and Henrietta (Hilken) Krumwiede, was born on March 13, 1926 at Elm Creek township, Minnesota. He departed this life on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa at the age of 85 years and 27 days.

He received his education in the District 71 Cedar Township schools.

On April 20, 1947, he was united in marriage to Anna Mae Abbas in Trimont, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple lived in Trimont. Arlo worked at Person Hatchery and Feed. In 1954 the couple moved to rural Swea City. They moved into town in 1990. Anna Mae passed away May 15, 1997. Arlo moved to Maloy, Iowa in 2007.

Arlo was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City. He enjoyed camping, fishing, trucking, western movies and going for scenic drives in his pickup.

Left to cherish Arlo's memory are his children, Linda Murphy and her husband, Joe, of Maloy, Iowa, and Lance Krumwiede and his wife, LeAnn, of Estherville, Iowa; five grandchildren, Melanie Jackson and husband Kevin; Michelle Wright and husband Nate; Jared Murphy and wife Leslie, Mitchel Krumwiede and Justin Murphy and wife Jessica; eight great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Hannah Jackson, Rhett and Zach Murphy, Jackson and Emma Wright and Ayla and Kaley Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City on Thursday, April 14, 2011, with Pastor Rusty Bailey officiating.

Interment was in the Harrison Township Cemetery in Swea City.
