RITE TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY FOR LILLIAN COX

The funeral for Lillian Ayres Cox, 94, the daughter of a pioneer family and a lifetime Eugene resident, is at 2 p.m. Saturday, in England's Eugene Memorial chapel.

Mrs. Cox, whose home is at 605 Ayres Road, but who had been living in a nursing home the past two years, died Wednesday.

She was born the daughter of Palmer and Mary Benson Ayres on March 17, 1889, and lived out her life as a farmer's wife on her parent's 40-acre land grant near the confluence of the Willamette and McKenzie rivers.

She was married to Harvey Cox on Jan. 5, 1913. They were childless. He died in 1953. She also worked at the local vegetable cannery and at Chase Gardens in Eugene.

She was a charter member of the Willakenzie Grange and a member of the Willagillespie Baptist church.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Burial in the family's plot at Gillespie Butte Cemetery will take place after the funeral. ~~~END~~~

COX- Lillian A. Cox of 605 Ayres Road, Eugene, died October 19, 1983, at the age of 94. She was born the daughter of Palmer and Mary Benson Ayres on March 17, 1889 in Eugene, Oregon. She was a lifelong resident of Eugene. In Eugene, she was married to Harvey Cox on January 5, 1913, who preceded her in death in 1953. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Services will be held Saturday, October 22, 1983, at 2 p.m. in ENGLAND'S EUGENE MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Vault interment will follow in Gillespie Cemetery. Pall bearers will be George Saunders, Gerald Saunders, Palmer Saunders, Wallace Ayres, Ronald Walls, and Dutch Craiger. Harold Ayres will be honorary pall bearer. Friends may call Friday evening at the chapel until 8 p.m. ~~~END~~~
