Ralph Powell Day was born May 26, 1917 in Mount Pleasant, Texas (Titus County)to James Monroe Day and Birdie Elizabeth [Powell] Day. Birdie was born December 31, 1892 in Texas and died August 27, 1961 in Titus County. She is laid to rest in Cooper's Chapel Cemetery. James Monroe Day was born May 16, 1885 in Alabama and died February 1, 1957 in Tarrant County, Texas.

Birdie Elizabeth's father was James 'Joe' Josiah Powell, who was born December 1, 1856 in Texas and died March 22, 1933 in Tom Green County, Texas. He is laid to rest in the Wall Cemetery. Her mother was Maude Ann Virgina Sparks, who was born January 19, 1876 in Titus County, Texas and died August 2, 1948 in Tom Green County. She is laid to rest in Wall Cemetery by her husband. Joe Powell farmed near Mt. Pleasant, Texas and was one of the first to grow peaches commercially. Maude was a public school teacher in addition to raising ten children.

Birdie's siblings were Lura Capitola, Hobart Wayne, Ora Helen, Elvia Othelin, Owen Kermit, Mallie Rosemary, Goodman Voyan, Lella Josephine, and Cleddie Virginia Powell, of whom Birdie was the eldest.

Birdie remarried sometime before 1930 to Martin Franklin 'Ben' Wilhite in Titus County, Texas.

Ralph had three brothers, Weymouth Emerald Day, Cody Larry Wilhite and James Joe Wilhite. Weymouth and Cody were also laid to rest in Cooper's Chapel Cemetery. He also had two sisters; Iona Marie Day Allen who was born May 11, 1910 in Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas and died May 13, 1991 in Jefferson, Marion County, Texas and Margaret Wilhite Shumate.

Ralph Powell Day was a succesful farmer in Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. He married Norma Irene Wilson in Grand Island, Nebraska at the end of WWII. They moved to California for several years and then returned to Mt. Pleasant, TX in 1950 with three daughters. They eventually added four more daughters and three sons. Ralph is listed as being in the United States Army from 1938 to 1946.

Ralph Powell Day passed away at age 92 on January 1, 2010 in Mt. Pleasant and is laid to rest in Cooper's Chapel Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 64 years; six daughters, Kathryn Elizabeth Day, Janet Irene Johnson, Virginia Ann Lefler, Martha Jean Flanagan, Rosemary Margaret Stepp, Susan Elaine Thomas; two sons, Billy Frank Day and Joe Powell Day, 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea Lee Browning in 1988 and a son, Tommy Ralph Day in 2006.
