Gene Treadway, Sr., son of the late Homer Treadway and Violet R. Long Treadway was born on Sept. 10, 1933 in rural Bernie, Mo., and died on April 14, 2011 at his residence in Puxico, Mo. at the age of 77 years.

Mr. Treadway was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Church in Dexter, retired from General Motors in St. Louis, Mo., and a veteran of the United States Navy.

On April 14, 1991 he was united in marriage to Virginia Gates in Puxico. Mrs. Treadway survives of the home in Puxico.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Darrin Treadway of Van Buren, Mo.; one daughter, Darlene Malone of Valley Park, Mo.; two step-daughters, Sharon Garrison of Springfield, Mo. and Dawn Sager of Thornton, Colo.; two brothers, Bill Treadway of Chaffee, Mo., and Wayne Treadway of Texas; four sisters, Jo Stinson of Wappapello, Mo., Mae Pope of Essex, Mo., Faye Fortune of New Burg, Ind., and Norma Nash of Marshfield, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchilren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Harold Eugene Treadway Jr.; one daughter, LaDena Treadway; and one grandson, Terry Treadway.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5:30 until 8 p.m. on Monday April 18, 2011.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Elder Jeral Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter.
