Inez Jewel Satterfeld Hobbs was born on April 23, 1922 and passed from this life June 18, 2010. She was 88 years old. George and Millie May Satterfeld had a family of twelve children. Inez was in the middle of the group of twelve children. Three of her siblings died either at birth or at a young age. She came from a poor family that worked in the fields for their income. Her schooling was in Canattlo, Texas, but she soon left school to work in the fields alongside her family to support the growing clan. Her social life began at 13 when she went on her first date with a young man named Leo. Soon after she began driving an old ford when she was 14 years old. Her desire was to be a nurse when she could go back to school, but her plans were interrupted again when she was 14. She was working in the cotton fields at the time making fifty cents an hour, and dreaming about her future at night sitting around the fire in the living area of their modest home. Inez's parents were from a Baptist background and the large family would sit around the fire at night and sing old time gospel hymns. At 14 she was married for the first time, but it would be later that she would marry the love of her life and lifetime partner Raymond Hobbs. Raymond and Inez moved to the state of Washington in 1973 where she resided until her death. Upon moving to Washington she went to work at Green River Terrace and worked there until she retired in 1990. Her final position was Supervisor of Environmental Department. Inez was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of the Puget Sound for thirty-seven years until her death. She lost her beloved husband and lifelong mat Raymond in 1989. Her daughter Judy also preceded her in death due to pancreatic cancer. On this side of the curtain of time she leaves three children, Gary Lee Lunsford, Velinda Ann Eastep (Linda) both of CA, and Mark Hobbs of Auburn, WA. She will be missed and remembered by a host of friends, fellow church members, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived in an amazing time. She went from living a rural life raising their own food, canning fruits and vegetables, and killing their own beef and chickens to a life that included microwaves, cell phones and computers. On Friday evening about 7:40 P.M. at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, WA Inez concluded the part of her journey on this side of the curtain of time. She stepped to the other side of the curtain and joined her beloved Raymond and daughter Judy. She leaves behind a request for all her family members to join her and Raymond and Judy in heaven when their journey here is completed. Visitation Wed. June 23, 2010 4-7 P.M. Yahn & Son Funeral Home. Graveside Service; Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:00 P.M. Mountain View Cemetery, Auburn
