Dewey Absher,86,of Pounding Mill Virginia passed away Tuesday at a Richlands Virginia hospital.

Born in Tazewell County Virginia he was a son of the late Charlie and Bell Cordle Absher and step-son of Rena Chambers Absher.

He had been a lifelong resident of the Tazewell County area.

He was a retired self-employed coal miner.

He was a member of the Trinity Tabernacle Church in Raven Virginia.

He was preceded in death by one daughter--Dorothy Absher.

Two brothers--Lloyd Absher and Roy Absher.

Survivors are his wife--Sadie Shortt Absher.

Three daughters--Mrs. Elmer (Ruby Absher)Hylton of Raven Virginia--Mrs. Buford (Doris Absher)Davis of Pounding Mill Virginia and Mrs. Marvin (Thelma Absher)Cordill of Cedar Bluff Virginia.

Five sons--Troy Absher of Pounding Mill Virginia--Hurley Absher of Pounding Mill Virginia--Rev. Charlie Absher of Pounding Mill Virginia --Earl Junior Absher of Richlands Virginia and Darrell Joseph Absher of Tazewell Virginia.

Five sisters--Mrs. Joe (Nell Absher)Buckles of Stafford Virginia--Mrs. Bernard (Maxie Absher)Williamson of Stafford Virginia--Mrs. Rosa Messick of Pounding Mill Virginia--Mrs. Albert (Artie Absher)Keen of Tazewell Virginia and Mrs. Charlie (Mattie Absher)Stilwell of Cedar Bluff Virginia.

One brother--James T. Absher of Raven Virginia.

Fifteen grandchildren--fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at one Friday at the Trinity Tabernacle in Raven Virginia with the Rev. Rick Whitt and Rev. Johhny Osborn officiating.

Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands Virginia one hour prior to service Friday at the church.

Burial will be in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill Virginia.
