Spanish-American War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in Company H, 21st Infantry US Army. At Santiago, Cuba, July 1, 1898, Private Nee assisted in the rescue of the wounded from the front lines under heavy fire from the enemy. For gallantry in action, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on June 22, 1899 and later achieved the rank of Sergeant.
