Our beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Kennie Shorts Ostberg, 69, passed away at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, April 12, 2011, after a courageous battle with upper respiratory complications.

Kennie was born in Boise, Idaho to Merlin J. and Ethel Shorts Ostberg. He attended school in Vernal and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Kennie learned the value of work at a very young age being one of 15 children. He loved caring for his nieces and nephews.

He was employed by Birrell Bottling Company. Later on he was schooled by master welders that provided him a life-long career in the structural welding profession. He loved and perfected the skill of working with metal. He enjoyed sharing his talent with others. His generosity was appreciated and accepted by many.

Kennie married Delpha Mae Myers. Five children were born to this union: Cynthia, Paul (deceased), Gary Ken, Greg and Angela. They were later divorced.

While working at Birrells, he met his sweetheart, Robyn Dustin. They were married on Valentine's Day 1976, and just recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary.

Kennie had a love for the outdoors. He loved his horses and he enjoyed the game of golf. He loved to travel and the special vacations they went on. His grandkids were the "apple of his eye."

He is survived by his wife, Robyn, four children, five grandchildren; Tory, Cassidy, Tanika, Tatriel & Dalaney and one great grandson; Bailen. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara, Phylliss, Betty, Peggy, Linda, Bonnie, Arta Mae, Judy and brothers Larry and Dennis.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Paul, sisters LaVelda, Sue, Margie and brother Jimmie.

Funeral services in honor of Kennie will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parowan Fourth Ward LDS Chapel, 90 South Main, Parowan, Utah.
