Robert Eachus Doan

U.S. Congressman. He completed an academic course, taught school for a few years, graduated from the Cincinnati Law School in 1857, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Wilmington, Ohio. He was editor of the Wilmington Watchman newspaper (1859-60) and prosecuting attorney of Clinton County in 1862. In 1891, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-second Congress, serving until 1893. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination resumed the practice of law in Washington, D.C. He died at the age 87 in Wilmington, Ohio.
