Sarah Jane Hunsaker was born at Liberty, Adams County, Illinois, September 2, 1833, and departed this earthly life January 8, 1924, being at the time of her death 90 years, 4 months and 6 days of age.
She was married to Samuel A. McClintock December 26, 1851.
To this union was born four children, two sons and two daughters, who are: Mrs. Nancy Grubb of Quincy, Mrs. Candace Vanlandingham and Albert of Novelty and Hiram Sylvester of Olathe, Kansas.
Beside the children there is one sister, Miss Susan Hunsaker, 24 grand children, and 40 great grand children and 6 great great grand children.
She and the husband came to Missouri in 1855 and settled near Novelty where she had spent 68 years of her life. She united with the Christian Church at Liberty at the age of 20 and had been an untiring worker in all the activities of the church. She was a charter member of the Novelty Church and was the last of the charter members. For many years she taught the little folks in the bible school and during the years of her sickness she had always made inquires as to the progress of the church work. For about eight years she had been robbed of regular church attendance but had borne her suffering with Christian fortitude and grace.
Her many friends testify to her noble example and Christian life.
Funeral services were held at the Novelty Christian church Thursday, January 10, conducted by the Rev. J. L. Shoemaker, and interment made in the adjoining cemetery.
