On 27 April 1818, Charles Rounds applied for a Revolutionary Soldier's pension, which was granted. In his claim application, Charles stated: that he was at that time 57 years of age (abt 1761); that at the time of his enlistment in the Spring of 1777 he resided in Massachusetts; that he served with Captain Cooper and Colonel Bradford in Mass: that he engaged in the battles of Hubbardton and Bemus Heights, and in the Retreat from Ticonderoga; that he was captured at the Battle of Mommouth and remained a prisoner for two years; that at the time of claim for pension he was residing in Worcester, Oswego County, N.Y. Charles Rounds died in 1843. He is buried at Jackson Cem., Pittstield, Ohio.

1790 census
Rensselaerville, Albany, NY
Charles Round, 1 male under 16 (1774-1790), 1 male over 16 (born before 1774), 2 females (born before 1790).

There is only one Charles Rounds in the 1790 census and he is in Rensselaerville. Via history of Rensselaerville: Shortly after the Revolutionary War, Stephen Van Rensselaer III advertised "free" tracts of land of 160 acres to anyone who would develop the land. After seven years, farmers had to pay an annual rent of four fat fowls, 18 bushels of wheat and a day's service. Many war veterans took advantage of Van Rensselaer's offer, coming mostly from Massachusetts, Connecticut and eastern Long Island by boat up the Hudson River.

This "rent" after 7 years would explain a move to Worcester, which is about 45 miles west.

1800 Census
Worcester, Oswego, NY

Charles Rounds, 1 male under 10 (1790-1800), 1 male 10-16 (1784-1790), 1 male 45+ (born before 1755), 1 female under 10 (1790-1800), 1 female 10-16 (1784-1790), 1 female 26-45 (1755-1774)

1810 census
Worcester, Otsego, NY
C. Rounds, 2 males under 10 (1800-1810), 1 male 45+ (born before 1765), 2 females under 10 (1800-1810), 1 female 10-15 (1795-1800), 2 females 16-25 (1785-1794), 1 female 26-44 (1766-1784).

1820 census
Worcester, Otsego, NY
Charles Round, 1 male under 10 (1810-1820), 0, 1 male 16-18 (1802-1804), 2 males 18-26 (1794-1802), 1 male 45+ (born before 1775), 1 female under 10(1810-1820), 1 female 10-16 (1804-1810), 2 females 16-26 (1794-1804), 0, 1 female 45+ (born before 1775).

If Charles Rounds was of Champion, Jefferson, NY before he moved to Lorain Co., Ohio, he would have been there between 1820 and 1824 as there is no Charles Rounds listed in the 1820 Census in Jefferson Co., NY and the only Charles Rounds in New York listed is in Worcester, Otsego, NY. However, in 1820 there is George Rounds and Jeremiah Rounds in both of Brownville, Jefferson, NY, which is about 17 miles west of Champion, and a Daniel Rounds in Ellisburg some 33 miles west of Champion. George Rounds (1784-1863) of Brownville via census records was born in Rhode Island. Jeremiah Rounds seems to have been born Aug 1792 Chester, Vermont, and Daniel Rounds (1794-1878) of Ellisburg was of Cheshire, Berkshire, MA prior to his move there in 1816.
